What is CrimsonCode?
CrimsonCode is a 24-hour collegiate hackathon held at Washington State University in Pullman, WA.
Who can attend?
We encourage students of all majors and all levels of coding experience to attend. We will have mentors available to help you learn new technologies and give guidance on projects.
How much does this cost?
CrimsonCode is completely free as we believe that it is more important for students to focus on their projects rather than worrying about the essentials. As such, all food, caffiene, and internet will be completely free during the event.
What should I bring?
Most importantly, bring your excitement and passion. Besides those two things, students should also bring a laptop (or desktop computer), charger, power strip, and student ID. Toothbrush, change of clothes, and sleeping bag/blanket are also highly recommended.
How big are the teams?
In order to allow teams to be from more diverse academic backgrounds, teams can be a maximum of 4 people per team. As such, we encourage participants to work with some people that they don’t know.
What if I don’t have a team?
In the months and weeks leading up to the hackathon, we will be hosting activities to help people find teams. Please check our Facebook page for more specific details on these activities.
What if I don’t have any ideas but still want to participate?
Before the hackathon, we will be hosting activities that will give example ideas and have brainstorming sessions to help potential participants come up with ideas. Please check our Facebook page for more specific information on these activities.
Can I work on my project beforehand?
No. We encourage everyone to start a brand new project at the hackathon. However, you are allowed to develop libraries or use outside libraries to help you with your project. If you think you might be in sketchy territory, contact or find an organizer to have us check it out.
